Australian Domain Names - Do you qualify?
Registering an Australian domain name such as example.com.au is not as straight forward as say example.com due to eligibility criteria. Domain names ending in one of the .au extentions such as .com.au have conditions which you must meet before you can register them.

New Zealand Domain Names
Registrants need to be identifiable individuals over 18 years of age or properly constituted organisations. Registrants do not need to be based in New Zealand nor does their domain name need to be hosted in New Zealand.

Before You Register a Domain Name
Owning a domain name gives you no legal status over the name registered. Therefore we suggest you check the following before registering any domain:
- The Trademarks database for any country you are likely to operate in or will be seeking web traffic from.
- Business and company name databases in the countries you are likely to operate in or will be seeking web traffic from.
- Similar domain names already registered. Especially when they offer similar products or services.
If you find you may be infringing on the the rights of another organisation with a similar or closely related name, seek legal advice. Domain squatting (using a misspelling of another brand) for example is illegal in most countries.
